As I write this week’s Marketing Monday, it is Mother’s Day in the United States.
It’s a day for us to appreciate the love, wisdom, discipline, encouragement,
and examples given us by our mothers.
I am lucky in life that my own mother is an outstanding example of humanity.
Probably very much like yours.
I first watched then participated in various family businesses during my childhood and
adolescence. The lessons I learned from my mother have proven to be invaluable.
“Treat every client as though they are your only client”
“Treat family like guests in your home, and guests like family”
“Greet everyone with a sincere and cheerful greeting”
“Take care of yourself so that you can be strong enough to take care of everyone else”
“Cooking and cleaning aren’t for everyone”
“There really is nothing else but love”
“You can’t have it all, but there’s nothing wrong with trying to have it all”
“Don’t be afraid to explore your infinite potential”
“Lots of cash doesn’t equal lots of class”
“Keep multiple to-do lists; short-term attainable goals, long-term attainable goals.
Then – start crossing them off”
What did your mother teach you – and more importantly how will you apply the lesson?
Many of my business decisions, attitudes and interactions are based on the example of
my mother – a great entrepreneur and even greater mother.
